| Simon Vobes | Norway | The world is busy enough already. I don’t need any other excuse | |
|
I was born in London, England but, through many years of travelling and the way travel uncovers destiny in a very significant way, I have ended up living on the outskirts of Oslo, Norway for almost 19 years. I have been working as an abstract artist for several years but have, first publicly introduced my art through The Wall Art Gallery concept. I utilize The Wall Studio at my home in Norway, which is used as the creative focal point for The Wall project. Why do we percieve the things we are entrained to believe, the way we do? My work is a desire to free oneself from those constraints. The Wall concept is the core of this. The abstract thought of meeting "a Wall" in life and the process of breaking down the, so-called "real-life" barriers. Or put an easier way, "used simply to cover walls with these images". It is mysterious, what expresses itself without reveiling itself and nothing is so enticing as a blank canvas, a new start, a new destiny. Into the unknown we travel. |

I painted this tree with my fingers working quickly in the moment. Later I realized it reminded me of times when I had to have a lot of courage. There is no foliage on the tree but light comes from within the trunk. There is a patch of light blue sky at the top right corner that may allow for an easy exit from the painting. | Cathy SR Read | United Kingdom | Cathy Read Art | |
| Art has always been something I did but I made the decision to pursue a career in art fairly recently. Originally I was interested solely in realism but my desire to create work that is different and unique has led me to a passion for abstracts. I discovered my style about 18 months ago and I'm looking to expand it's possibilities. I still create realistic works as part of my professional development but abstracts allow me to experiment with images but also with emotional and personal concepts. Sort of psychology without the words. | |||

I am a graphic artist born in Argentina and living in the USA. Somewhere between 1990 and 2000 I studied Arts in the Escuela “Nacional de Bellas Artes” in Buenos Aires , Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Computer Graphics, Animation, Caricature and Comics drawing and other stuff that I don’t remember right now. I spent time at different universities and after 6 years of academic training , I quit everything. I guess at that time I preferred to get a job and make some money and try to figure out what I was supposed to do with my life. As of today, December 31, 2009, on New Year’s Eve I realize that I still haven’t found the answer. In the meantime, I got married, had a son and expecting a daughter soon. I am 36 years old. I make a living doing graphic design and I keep learning on my own. I read a lot of books, mostly computers, graphic design, art, photography and a lot of geeky stuff. I spend stupid amounts of money in paints, pens, photography gear, computer gear and other stuff that is too embarrassing to mention. I live in a rented house and drive a $2,000 car. I have a wonderful family and a couple of good friends. I play soccer every Sunday morning. I guess that’s all. |

| Derek C Wicks | Canada | Wildlife Art by Derek C Wicks | |
|
Derek discovered the enchanting world of art and nature at the young age of six. Through a junior artist's kit and the encouragement of his family, Derek developed his artistic talents to becoming a wildlife artist. "Even as a child I would paint pictures of nature I saw in National Geographic. From day one I have always known I wanted to be a wildlife artist!". Derek attended Sheridan College of Applied Arts and Technology in Oakville, Ontario and graduated at the top of his class from the Technical & Scientific Illustration Program, with an award for Artistic Excellence. After graduation, his career led him to free-lance illustration where he specialized in architectural rendering. Attention to detail became Derek's commercial trademark, a trademark that would find it's way into his wildlife art. Gaining international recognition, Derek's transition to full time wildlife artist came about in 1995. Through the years Derek's work has been selected to endorse several conservation efforts such as the Canadian Conservation Fund, Timber Wolf Alliance, Ducks Unlimited and the Children's Wish Foundation. Derek's work has been published in several major art publications including "Wildlife Art: 60 Contemporary Masters and Their Work" from Portfolio Press. More recently Ducks Unlimited named Derek their 2007 Canadian National Artist Of the Year and National Portfolio Artist for 2009. His award-winning work has captured international attention and is included today in private, corporate and public collections worldwide. Derek is published and distributed by Wild Wings Publishing LLC., Lake City, Minnesota. |

| David Fedeli | United States | DJ Fedeli Gallery | |
|
Artist Statement "I believe that as an artist, it is not my purpose to dictate what the viewer sees on the canvas, but rather to pose a question that causes them to seek an answer within themselves. Each individual brings their own life experiences into the decision, and for each of them the meaning is truly unique. My passion lies in reaching that inner self, and drawing it into, and out of, my art. My goal is to create a moment that touches their soul." ~DJ Fedeli Bio David J. Fedeli (Born, 1959) - Largely a self-taught artist, David demonstrated natural artistic abilities at a very young age, having his sketches publicly displayed from the early age of 10. He studied Graphic Arts & Fine Arts at 3 Colleges in San Diego in the early 80's while working as a Graphic Designer. Discontent with the slow pace of the classroom, he abandoned school and continued working in the Graphic Arts industry. During the next 15 years he focused on developing his technical skills and worked successfully as a free-lance designer and industry professional. Throughout this period, his artwork took on many forms, as he was striving to find the right outlet for his creativity. In 2000, he met and became friends with Robert Watson, an American artist with an international reputation. Recognizing his abilities, Mr. Watson took him under wing, and provided David with the direction and focus he had been seeking for so long. David studied with artist Robert Watson for 4 years, until his passing. He reflects that during this time, he learned more about the world of art, both the mental aspect and physical skills, than he had learned in all his years of school. Watson's unconventional approach to teaching struck a chord with David, and the results were immediate. David's style reflects what he learned, falling into the category of surrealism and neo-romanticism. |

| Annette Ragone Hall | United States | Annette Ragone Hall paints commissioned portraits, which she creates realistically in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, charcoal, or pencil. | |
| I've always been fascinated by the human face and form. I believe that the greatest challenge in painting portraits is to get both the spirit and the likeness of the subject. If you don't have both, the portrait is a figurative painting. It can be beautiful and wonderful to look at, but it's not a portrait of a specific person unless it has those dual qualities. | |||
| Richard Nowak | United States | landscapes, garden scenes, marine scenes and still lifes in oil paint on canvas or board | |
|
I have been painting in oil paint on canvas or board for nearly twenty years in a realistic style with an impressionistic flair! Landscapes, garden scenes, marine scenes, and still lifes are painted on location (ein plain air) or from my own photos. I am known for thick, textures painted applied by brush or knife against flat areas which creates a 3D affect so it seems like you are walking into a painting. |

| Benjamin F. Weaver | United States | Home Page | |
| I have been working in the Fine Arts field for 17 years. During that time I have explored painting as a two dimensional form in contrast to sculpture that I was making during the day to support my art. My primary focus in art has shifted from painting to sculpture to painting back to sculpture all while maintaining a style that explores the dimensional aspect of art. Now In my current work I am exploring both mediums in an exploration of flattening sculpture through paint. | |||

My Mom always loved my little pen and ink drawings of Benny Hill,Charlie Brown,Flintstone and PBS' Mystery characters that I did in my late teens and early 20's.As a little girl arts and crafts were always my favorite thing to do, whether it was making paper flowers or drawing pictures.Visits with my uncle always include mini art lessons on perspective and the figure and stories of his instructions from Nicolai Fechin.I've worked at retail jobs, been head artist at local personalized gift stores and I've done mural painting and some small commissions in between. After painting various subjects from portraits to landscapes and still lifes-I wanted to do it all... I was told by a good friend and gallery owner to "stick with one thing'make that your signature.."Well ,I realized that what I really enjoyed was capturing that special look or pose -that moment in time.So that's what I will keep doing and I can't live without it. |

| barbara jean hennessy | Canada | Modern to Traditional Art, Original wall art for all age groups by Barbarajean | |
|
Barbara jean Hennessy was born in Vancouver, Canada and grew up in Vernon , British Columbia. She graduated at VSSS, as the top student in, Art, and directly after she continued studying Fine Arts, in Vancouver. After several years in Vancouver, she moved back to Vernon where she now resides. When creating my artwork I try to encompass interesting design themes, and compositions without going too over the top in designing , an example is the , Sunflower Art painting, it is slightly abstract but you as a viewer know that the art painting is sunflowers. I do also enjoy over the top abstract art work and will be adding some in the future on this website, As a trained artist, I love to add a touch of imagination to my designs, with comforting colors and unique combinations of different subjects, one of my favorite quotes is , " Logics will get you from A to B, imagination will take you everywhere" , Albert Einstein. |
