| Joanne Webb | United Kingdom | one year one hundred works | |
|
Both the panels and the paint are light fast as I use high pigment oil paints and hand made poplar gesso panels. This ensures that the image, colour and intensity last for at least two hundred years after completion. The longevity of the works plays a key element as my emotional response to events merge together in a visible landscape which can only ever mark the transitional, but the element of perpetuity marks an existence and an exact moment. My blog 'One year one hundred works' is an opportunity to upload private sketchbook works and progress on paintings which people do not normally see. |

| Louisa Boyd | United Kingdom | Please click here to view further work and keep up to date with exhibitions | |
| Louisa Boyd graduated in 2001 from the Manchester Metropolitan University after studying Embroidery and showed a series of artists' books relating to landscape as her final pieces. In the same year she entered her books at the New Designers Show and won The Paperchase Future of Design Award and a high commendation from the judges of the New Designer of the Year, both highly prestigious awards. This led on to her exhibiting them in two solo shows, the first in Tottenham Court Road (Paperchase's flagship store) and then in Manchester at the sister store. She has since worked as a commercial artist exhibiting nationally and selling her paintings. Louisa works in a contemporary manner using traditional techniques. Her original paintings are highly sought after and difficult to obtain due to her very popular distinctive style. She has had her paintings published and her reproductions are virtually indistinguishable from the original with each one individually hand embellished. More recently, Louisa has begun designing and making artist books again. Her influence for her work remains within the natural world however both her paintings and books feature imagery of birds. She is also investigating and experimenting with printmaking techniques and incorporating etching, screen printing and block printing into her pieces. | |||

| Anthe | United States | Artworks by Anthe | |
| I favor working in oils when I paint and this piece is one created from a journey to Meteora in Greece painted in oils on panel. This was a mystical place and painting it gave me a sense of peace once again as if I was there all over again. "Creating work is much like breathing to me, I do it because I must to stay alive. The creation of my art is a means for me to express my faith in God, glorifying him, and giving Him honor as well as releasing the feelings that are inside of me. I have always had a love of the Mexican & Greek Iconography. My travels to both countries have enabled me to incorporate their color sense into my imagery. I have felt the desire to convey multiple meanings in much of my work and to provoke thought. Nothing in life is exactly what it appears to be and art in my estimation should reflect the same as life, the unexpected.” | |||
| Candy Prather | United States | Art by Candy Prather | |
|
Candy Prather and her wonderfully supportive husband, R.A., are native Texans who have raised three children together and are now enjoying an abundance of grandchildren. In her spare time, Candy can be found in her small home studio in Rockwall doing one of her favorite things - painting. Candy credits her development as an artist to her apprenticeship to a well-known commercial artist and the local classes and workshops she has taken for her creative and artistic growth. She has exhibited locally at the Texas Roast, Candlelight & Lampposts, The Hilton Bella Harbor Fine Art Gallery, Wylie Art Gallery, and Rockwall Art League's Annual Fall Art Show/Sale in 2007 - 2009. Candy enjoys her membership with the Rockwall Art League. A variety of mediums - pencil, pastels, charcoal - were used when Candy first began her journey into the visual arts in 2003. A few years later, she discovered oils and has never looked back. "Creating paintings that speak to the heart" is her life's ambition. Candy's work is a reflection of her spirit and her positive approach to life, with her passion being portraits and people. She relies on God's guidance and the inspiration from her love for Him as she continues to study and develop her talent in painting. |

| Gill Bustamante B.A. | United Kingdom | Gill Bustamante B.A. -Artist | |
|
I decided to be an artist when I was 3 but had to wait until I was 18 before going to art college. I did a foundation course at Chelsea and then a degree course at Brighton where I graduated in 1983 with a fine art degree in sculpture. After graduating, I hired a studio space on Brighton seafront where I began producing fibre glass sculptures as commissioned by an architect who designed interiors for clubs and hotels. I was even commissioned by the Dean of the college to make two life size sculptures of horses. On moving to East Grinstead in the late 80’s, I began painting for an art agent that specialised in animal, people and bespoke portraits. I soon became an expert in painting dogs and horses in the classical style. I also took on mural painting commissions and wrote and illustrated a few children's books. I have painted murals in children’s bedrooms, bathrooms, a gypsy caravan and even in a stud farm stable. A little later, I began teaching for adult education centres in the area and also took on commission based work for a commercial art studio. The extra income this work generated enabled me to not actually die of starvation whilst I built up a portfolio of fine art and began making a name for myself in Sussex. I do this by regularly placing my paintings or prints in restaurants, hotel rooms, galleries and anywhere else their will be seen and can be sold from. I also try to exhibit at least 3 times a year in various galleries around the UK and sometimes abroad. Whether I ever become rich from art remains to be seen but regardless of this, I love to paint. I love getting blobs of it in my ears, on my clothes and on the floor. I love smelling of turpentine and wearing jeans that are held together with dried paint and I love knowing how to hold a brush and being able to use it! |

| J Douglas | United States | J Douglas - Artist | |
|
Crawdaddy in Key West 18 x 24 Oil on canvas Passion, it’s that unexplainable sense of satisfaction you feel when you are doing that which you were made to do. It’s what J experiences when he is at his easel. Art isn’t something that he chose. Rather, he feels that it chose him. From the time he was very young, J can remember being excited by the creative process. J has found inspiration by studying other artists. From the classical work of Rembrandt van Rijn to the modern day work of Henry Asencio. He is also inspired to create by his love of the people he surrounds himself with and the energetic music he fills the air with while he paints. Though his heart longed to go for it, many of his peers and authority figures suggested that he take another route in life, and be practical. Practical meant getting a “real” job and doing art on the side. So he got into the graphic arts world. He then started as a layout artist and grew to be an art director for printshops, sign companies, advertising agencies and eventually his own art studio. J also taught art classes to students privately, in community centers and colleges across the country. In the last decade he has supported his fine art passion with his other passion ... the martial arts. He owns and runs his own school, Tiger Claw Taekwondo (www.tigerclawva.com), in Leesburg, Virginia. When he is not there, you can almost guarantee he can be found in his art studio. J Douglas will always be an artist. He will always seek to take raw materials and turn them into something beautiful that inspires. It is what he was made for. Thank you for allowing him to share his passion with you. |

The art, religions, and cultures of Asia served as an introduction to Buddhist philosophy, which led him to Naropa University in Boulder, CO. The desire to connect with a larger art world brought Kenneth to California, where he graduated from Otis College of Art and Design in 2001. Since then, he has lived and worked as an independent, professional artist in Los Angeles. |
