Purpose The Artists in Oils directory is free. It is intended to provide a vehicle for Artists:
The short answer is because Artists need access to high quality art links directories to be visible on the web. We started out by just promoting one online gallery. We quickly discovered that it requires a lot of time and effort to find link partners in the art world. There also did not seem to be any directory of art sites which separates out the ones that charge fees or require reciprocal links from the sites that will accept links openly (for free). Our initial goal was to provide a spot to find these resources in one place. When we got going, we recognized that it would cost us nothing to enable Artists to list their sites as well, so we set up some other categories for folks to post in. The site is a free service to the visual arts community. We don't charge anything for it and we don't make any money doing it.
